This is stupid. I understand that this app is completely by the books in so far as the rules are concerned..... but my browser downloaded over 550k worth of assets to display "hello".... 10k FAIL.

Well, Typekit and jQuery don't count towards the 10k. If you also aren't counting google analytics it's back under the 10k requirement. ga.js is 10.2kb all on it's lonesome.

I downloaded the link to IE9 Dev Preview under the rules on the homepage, and several of these apps don't work or display correctly, this being one of them. Is there a different link to an IE9 that works?

Disregard my previous comment; IE9 opens IE8 when you click the "Launch App" button. The apps work in IE9 (IE9 just fails for usability).

I like the "freshness" of it, although, wouldn't it be more of a different take on "Hello!", than "Hello World!"? Typo, "AFRIKANS" is spelt "AFRIKAANS".
